This exhibition is the third instalment of the project “Chronicle”, which organises contemporary art exhibitions in collaboration with international artists, and is positioned as Vol. 2.5. Titled “Chronicle (2.5) DIMENSIONS”, aiming to delve into contemporary art by focusing on the 2.5-dimensionality inherent in paintings. The exhibition features works by four Japanese artists who have studied painting and are currently working as artists using various approaches. Last year, the exhibition “Utusu - Chronicle Vol.2” took place at Villa Heike in Berlin, inviting artists under the concept that "mobility" forms the foundation of today’s society. This exhibition "Chronicle (2.5) DIMENSIONS" builds upon that concept, focusing on the space between two-dimensional works and three-dimensional artists/viewers.

Recent global circumstances have necessitated an increased awareness of physical distances. However, in today's society, where the movement of people and objects is intense, it is also important to consciously and carefully understand the meaning of maintaining distances. Anthropologist Tim Ingold stated, "Making is a correspondence between people, materials, and tools." Based on this concept of "correspondence," this exhibition explores not only static twodimensional works but also the dynamic interaction with space and time, investigating the ability of paintings to transcend dimensions.
